As you likely already know, Purple Day is quickly approaching! Purple Day is honoured annually on March 26 and is dedicated to raising epilepsy awareness throughout the world. Since this is such as important day for our community, EpLink is planning two important initiatives that are set to take place on the Friday (March 24) just before Purple Day. Details about these initiatives are below:
1. To help spread epilepsy awareness, EpLink staff (dressed in purple!) will be stationed at Brookfield Place (181 Bay Street) in downtown Toronto on Friday, March 24. From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., we will be giving out information about epilepsy, seizure first aid and the EpLink program, along with edible purple treats! Information about this outreach initiative has also been posted in Brookfield Place’s monthly newsletter.
If you will be nearby, please come and visit our kiosk across from the Concourse Level elevators. All are welcome!
2. To accompany our outreach initiative, we have also coordinated with UToronto news to publish an article about EpLink’s brain stimulation research on Friday, March 24. The article will feature both the basic and clinical work that has been done in brain stimulation by EpLink’s researchers, including the clinical trial to be started at Toronto Western Hospital and Avertus’ development of an at-home brain wave monitoring headset. You can read the article here!
As always, we will also be participating in the online conversations using #purpleday and #purpleday2017. Feel free to follow us on Twitter and Facebook @EpLinkON as we honour Purple Day and help to raise epilepsy awareness!
